First meeting

The phrase 'herding cats' comes to mind!  Next time it will be different even if I have to tie people to chairs!!
But we did manage to decide that we would all read a "classic" next - and this will be the topic for our first meeting next term.   The topic brought up a large number of questions about what a 'classic' is - which is not an easy one to answer. The general agreement was that it is a book that will stand the test of time, be readable and have some relevance regardless of when it was written - it does not have to have been written 200 years ago to be a classic.   I think a good extension of the topic will be to look at classics available in graphic form - which I will suggest at the next attempt to herd cats!
